Forgiveness and Salvation:
A Prequel to Fellowship Pt. 2
We are going to start today by recapping the past couple of weeks and then moving on into this weeks message. First, we learned how to fellowship with YeHoVaH, Yeshua, the Ruach HaKodesh and with each other. We seen that YeHoVaH made an effort to make it clear that fellowshiping was important to Him. He showed us that in order to fellowship righteously together, we first needed to learn how to fellowship with YeHoVaH, Yeshua and the Ruach. We found out that after we learn to fellowship with YeHoVaH, Yeshua and the Ruach, that we will get to know the gifts of the Spirit and learn how to use them. We are told that fellowship will become neglected when the end times are closing near. This is why we need fellowship because the end times are going to be a struggle for us and we will need to edify and build one another up in times of struggle and every day life.
Secondly, we learned about forgiveness and repentance. In last weeks message, it came to light that forgiveness and repentance is the first step after accepting Messiah Yeshua into your heart and to allow Him to guide your life through His Spirit the Ruach HaKodesh. It also takes a choice of using our free will to choose to let Messiah into our heart which allows Him to create a new creature in us after we allow our old selves die. The scriptures made it clear to us that we were to face consequences of our actions. That consequence is and will be death if we do not choose to be in the body of Messiah and He in us. We have to turn from sin and learn to try and turn from a life of sin and live a life of righteousness. Being obedient to our Elohim is probably the hardest thing to do considering that we live in a world full of sin. Yet this is what is ask of us to receive eternal life in Heaven.
Finally, after accepting Messiah as our Lord and Savior, we learned that when we sin, we still have to ask for forgiveness and repent of those sins. We also have seen that if we refuse to do so, to think that once acceptance is done we need no more forgiveness, we are only playing a trick on ourselves and allowing the enemy to confuse and condemn us. Last week, I stated that after we receive salvation, that we crucify Messiah again when we sin knowingly. I stated that He feels that pain all over again. I feel I have to elaborate on that statement. When we crucify Him, does He feel that pain again, Yes, but not in the way He did in the physical but in sadness and hurt. That kind of hurt that’s emotional not physical. We know as adults and being in relationships that the emotional hurt is worse than the physical hurt. I felt like I had to correct this statement. Let’s move on.
Now we move on to the last part which is salvation and the gifts of the Spirit. We will dive into the gifts first since we are taking this path backwards. There are many gifts of the Spirit that is given to us upon allowing the Spirit to manifest and work in us. Most of the time, the reason we do not utilize these gifts is because the majority of doctrines and denominations have belittled the scope of the people capable being used to do YeHoVaH’s work. I can go into a lot of different churchs and congregations and point fingers but that is not what I am here to do so let us move forward. I was going to touch on each of the gifts but to do that I would have to go into detail to get the point across so we need to save that for a later date. So lets just see what gifts manifest, starting in 1 Corinthians 12:8-10
1 Corinthians 12:8-10
8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;
7 Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;
8 Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.
Gifts of the Spirit
Discerning of spirits, Evangelism, Exhortation, Faith, Giving, Gifts of healings, Interpretation of tongues, Leadership, Martyrdom, Mercy, Miracles, Missionary, Pastor, Prophecy, Serving, Speaking in tongues, Teaching, Word of wisdom, Word of knowledge.
After reading the two scriptures above, we see that once the Spirit is received, we are given select gifts that is ordained by Elohim YeHoVaH and Yeshua. For example, the Spirit manifests its power through me daily. Some of the gifts that is manifest are ones that are required to minister. Such as; Evangelism, faith, healings, leadership, pastor, serving, teaching, wisdom
An example of how the Spirit works in real time. As you can see the manifestation of the gifts of the Spirit when you watch or hear me teach. The same thing that I experience, I want you all to experience. The gifts that YeHoVaH has ordained for the Spirit to manifest through you. Just like forgiveness, repentance and salvation, the usage of the gifts is a free will choice. You can choose not to allow the Spirit to manifest through you and you will also deprive yourself of a joy you cannot comprehend unless you experience it first hand. There are many scriptures we can go into to show the gifts and where they are mentioned. Instead, let’s go look at some examples from which we see them performed. When we see gifts performed in the scriptures, we see an example of how we should be. Let’s look at Peter in Joppa when the Spirit uses Peter to raise Tabitha from the dead.
This is an example of healing, divine healing. A spiritual act that is unexplained by any other means other than MIRACLE. In this one act, we can see multiple gifts on display, lets name them. Miracle, service, faith and healing. Peter, who has received the Spirit, is obedient to the Messiah which allows the Spirit the work in him and bring Tabitha back to life through Peters faith and love. How exciting is that? We CAN accomplish this as well. Lets take a look at another example but with a different perspective. Looking at the opposite view than with Peter, we have Jonah. He was called to go to Nineveh on a divine mission to warn the people of their coming destruction if they did not change their ways. This is a perfect example of how a man can cause the ordination of YeHoVaH and the works of the Spirit from manifesting due to whatever the man uses to stop it. In this case, it was fear and rejection. Jonah was to allow the manifestation of serving, prophecy, giving word of wisdom and knowledge to the people of Nineveh to help them escape destruction through….you guessed it forgiveness and repentance. Ultimately, Jonah did do what he was commissioned to do. It just took him a solid push and three days in the belly of a whale before he obeyed. The gifts are given for us to be serventile to YeHoVaH and Yeshua so we can do His work when He needs us to, not just when it is convenient for us as we learned with Jonah.
Now that we see how we can allow and block how the Spirit works the gifts through us, we can really see how this road is being laid. The gifts we are given aren’t a toy to be taken for granted. A lot of ministers/pastors out there have other jobs and some of them have to find pre-fab sermons to use because they don’t have the time to spend in the ministry to build their own sermon that the Spirit could write through them. I don’t have a job because I have devoted my life to this ministry to make it my job. I have the faith that YeHoVaH will provide for me and my family. I am not saying that everyone is called to this but I am saying that those who are need to be devoted to it. What I’m trying to say is that these gifts are gifts for a reason. They are not curses and we should be ready to allow the Spirit to operate in us. When we do this, we allow the light of Yeshua to shine brightly, remember that song “This little light of mine?” This is what that song is referring to. We have to let it shine and not dim it out to where it cannot be seen.
Now that we see what gifts are possible through us once we obtain salvation, now we need to learn how to obtain salvation. It is a very simple process but very hard to accomplish if you are not ready. Lets look at some scripture to get started. I feel it is appropriate to start in Acts 4:10-12.
10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Yeshua HaMaschiach of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom YeHoVaH raised from the dead, even by Him doth this man stand here before you whole.
11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
So we see that there is no other name under heaven in which man can obtain salvation other than the name of Yeshua, which defines as salvation. Fitting isn’t it? *Bunny Trail* People ask why I don’t call Yeshua Jesus. Simple, Yeshua’s definition is salvation and that is what I prefer to call Him.
16 For YeHoVaH so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
So first to obtain salvation, we have to believe in YeHoVaH’s only Son Yeshua and we shall not perish. Now this is where some denominations stop and say that we believe, we can do what we want and be saved and that is the end of the conversation of salvation but that is just part of it as we learned last week. Common misconceptions with salvation is that once given it is always possessed. Also, that you cannot lose salvation once you obtain it. These are two misconceptions with salvation that a lot of denominations get messed up. It’s kinda like the clean foods. There is a verse in which Peter is told to eat what he can and it is this verse that most Christians use to say that they can eat whatever they want. The misconception here is that when you really read this section in its context, it is talking about people being clean not food and using food as a parable. Salvation is obtainable but to keep it you have to abstain to grieving the Spirit with sin. Lets look at what the scriptures tells us.
11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world
We have to live righteously. Not full of sin, not committing sin everyday and forgetting to ask for forgiveness then commit the same sin later on or the next day. This is the problem with what I was taught growing up. I would see a pastor or Sunday school teacher preach and teach. Then I would see them getting drunk or being selfish or greedy. Another better understood word would be to be in the world today, partaking in it just like all the other sinners. For example, Disney, on the cover it looks innocent but on the inside its ugly and sexualizing our children teaching them to be disobedient. Why is our Father telling us to come out of the world?
1 Corinthians 6:9-10
9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of YeHoVaH? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of YeHoVaH.
All these sins mentioned in Titus and 1 Corinthians will keep us from inheriting a spot in the kingdom of YeHoVaH. Why is our Father telling us to come out of the world? It is an easy answer, if you are of this world, you will be committing the sins in this world, therefore you will not inherit the kingdom of heaven. Lets ask ourselves a question, if we accept the Messiah in our hearts and then go to commit any sin listed in the last two scriptures, which cover most things that we can do, why should we be granted eternal life?
WHY SHOULD WE BE GRANTED ETERNAL LIFE!?
Lets move in to close today’s message because I could talk about this for hours. Salvation and its understanding has been corrupted by men for so long and its time for people who listen to the message that the Father has given me to say to get the right way to obtain salvation. The path to heaven is narrow, and few will be able to walk it. One must ask is why is it stated in Matthew that few will walk this path? The only answer I can come up with is that man(or woman) refuse to listen to people that will not always want to tickle their ears. They want people to tell them what they want to hear. They want preachers that will be politically correct and tell them they can do what they want. Take homosexuality for example. We preach about and against it and we become judgmental bigots that can’t adapt to the changes of this world. In all actuality, we are trying to show these confused individuals that their choices are leading them down a path to damnation. What I’m trying to say is that the path of salvation isn’t the hard part but obtaining and maintaining salvation is. Which side do you want to be on?
13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
We are walking a narrow road, we are walking a road that few are on and its this world that makes it lonely. The want to be popular, to fit in with the common crowd makes many fall and think that what they are doing is right and they couldn’t be more wrong. I’m not preaching on popular topics because I’m not trying to be popular, I’m trying to be a proper and true teacher of the real gospel and it’s commandments.
13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
When I say maintain salvation, I mean we have to take care of our actions to be acting in righteousness. Why would we be told in Matthew to endure to the end if there is no effort to stay sinless? When we act and live in sin after we obtain salvation, please know that without forgiveness and repentance, you even those who know Messiah, will perish! There is so much more I could say but I can’t get dogmatic right now. Let’s pull this series together. The purpose for this series was to paint the path of salvation from where we end up to where we have to start. To show what we must do so the newly saved, don’t get overwhelmed in their walk.
Painting It Backwards
We end up fellowshiping with the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit and with each other righteously making YeHoVaH proud. Before that we have to make an intentional effort to ask for forgiveness and repentance. A step before that we have to let the Spirit be poured into through the acceptance and belief in the Messiah into salvation.
Painting It Forward
We have to be saved before we start our walk. It is the very first step and when we do that, we die and are reborn a new creature obtaining salvation and the Ruach HaKodesh in us building a relationship with the Messiah. We have to ask for forgiveness and repent while allowing the Ruach to work through us. Finally, we have to fellowship with the Father, the Son, the Ruach HaKodesh and each other righteously.
This series was supposed to be only one part and that was it but the Father had other plans. He wanted me to paint the road for the sinner or new believer so they knew what to expect without having fear of failure. We will all fail and all will sin but He is faithful to forgive us if we ask for it and repent. That is what allows our walk to continue. He wants the path to be crowded, not empty. So as new believers or even old ones, go find a friend or family member to join you in the walk. They may not be accepting at first but do not give up. Messiah doesn’t give up on us and we shouldn’t give up on anyone even if it seems hopeless.
