Reject the Division
Many times throughout our walk, we tend to find ourselves faced with the unfortunate and yet blessed decision of choosing our Father in heaven over a friend, family member, spouse or child. It’s not the easiest task in the world to accomplish and its also many times scrutinized and misunderstood. There’s a reason why our Messiah, Paul and Peter all made statements to this topic.
First before we even get into scripture, lets understand divisive.
Divisive – tending to cause disagreement or hostility between people.
Opposing stance to Divisive – Unity
With this understanding, a divisive man is against unity and who else is against unit, our adversary. To that end, let’s move into the meat and potatoes.
12 Therefore, as chosen ones of Elohim, set-apart and beloved, put on compassion, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, patience,
13 bearing with one another, and forgiving each other if anyone has a complaint against another, indeed, as Messiah forgave you so also should you.
14 But above all these put on love, which is a bond of the perfection.
15 And let the peace of Elohim rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one Body, and be filled with thanks.
16 Let the Word of Messiah dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing with pleasure in your hearts to the Master in psalms and songs of praise and spiritual songs.
17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the Name of the Master יהושע, giving thanks to Elohim the Father through Him.
As we try to walk through the Fathers way, as my friend Tai puts it, His ancient ways. We will be challenged…..build on this.
These challenges all build us up so that we can fulfill the calling and responsibilities in Colossians…..build on this.
One of those challenges that we face often is the one that tries to separate us from one another. This accomplishes a lot and the biggest thing is to tear our family of Yah apart.
So let’s understand what we need to know about this specific attack of the enemy of the fellowships of our Father’s children. I wonder what He tells us to do to protect ourselves.
The first thing we have to look at are the orders so that is actually right before what we just read so lets go back.
2 Mind the matters above, not those on the earth.
3 For you have died, and your life has been hidden with Messiah in Elohim.
4 When the Messiah, who is our life, is manifested, then you also shall be manifested with Him in esteem.
5 Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: whoring, uncleanness, passion, evil desire and greed of gain, which is idolatry.
We are told to get rid of all these things. These are sin right.
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the favourable gift of Elohim is everlasting life in Messiah יהושע our Master.
So these sinful things cause death because that is the payment for them. Which leads me to wonder, if payment for sin is death than what is the outcome if we try to obtain the fulfillment of these two references.
6 Because of these the wrath of Elohim is coming upon the sons of disobedience,
7 in which you also once walked when you lived in them.
8 But now, also put off all these: displeasure, wrath, evil, blasphemy, filthy talk from your mouth.
9 Do not lie to each other, since you have put off the old man with his practices,
10 and have put on the new one who is renewed in knowledge according to the likeness of Him who created him,
11 where there is not Greek and Yehuḏi, circumcised and uncircumcised, foreigner, Scythian, slave, free, but Messiah is all, and in all.
This warning comes stern and strong but with an awe deserving promise of life without death. Existence without sin. Now I’ve been mocked…..
To that end, we know that we have a lot that we have to stop doing that we’ve done for years thanks to the wicked influences of this world. But there’s something that we still haven’t dealt with. When we put off things normally there are other things that are tied to them, things we call baggage. This baggage is a problem and it’s a huge issue. It hangs around and it spoils the mood that you have with the Spirit. Let me show you.
We will start this section by remembering in what path we walk.
23 And He said to them all, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his stake daily, and follow Me.
Ok so we walk after Messiah who had to leave His home and become a nomad. Suffer in the desert for 40 days and nights. Endure countless public uproars and challenges, all the while trying to promote the Torah and walk out the Renewed Covenant. It’s absolutely wonderful. He endured the ultimate form of punishment in that crucifixion. So bringing that up it shows that our walk should have some adversity at the least. Maybe some mockery and scoffing. Who knows. That’s just to start the walk tho by picking up our torture device and carry it. What’s next?
26 If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, and wife, and children, and brothers, and sisters, and his own life too, he is unable to be My taught one.
Not to mean hate in the sense of murder but in the sense of sin define. Cause division
There’s a promise for those who fulfill Luke14. But we will get to that shortly.
10 Reject a divisive man after the first and second warning,
11 knowing that such a one has been perverted, and sins, being self-condemned.
Again another person we have to reject so it seems that the closest people and the divisive man. Could be a man, woman, sin, devil, demon doesn’t matter division comes in many different forms.
4 For You are not an Ěl taking delight in wrong, Nor does evil dwell with You.
5 The boasters do not stand before Your eyes; You hate all workers of wickedness.
6 You destroy those speaking falsehood; יהוה loathes a man of blood and deceit.
We shouldn’t take delight in wrong, dwell with evil, stand with boasts.
We should hate all workers of wickedness and their sins. (These aren’t lost souls, these are agents of the wicked one that are the tares among us.) Contin.
23 But He turned and said to Kĕpha, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling-block to Me, for your thoughts are not those of Elohim, but those of men.”
Even Kepha(Peter) was admonished for being a stumbling block, Peter(Kepha) the rock as our Messiah put it.
9Let love be without hypocrisy. Shrink (abhore) from what is wicked, cling to what is good.
Sin and wickedness go hand in hand and people who are these things can hurt our walk and cause us to stumble and this is why the stumbling blocks will be removed in Isaiah and face a different punishment.
29 “And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My Name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.
29 יהושע said, “Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for the sake of Me and the Good News,
30 who shall not receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and in the age to come, everlasting life.
No matter the circumcision in your life, whether it be a possession, person or a habit, choosing the Most High will always come with rewards. He gives us a promise for everlasting life but He also gives us a promise that He will provide great things than what you had when you give up everything for Him. You better believe our friends, family and other people we love are not exempt from this list if they are workers of lawlessness, stumbling blocks or a person who causes division.
First and foremost, be willing to relinquish everything and don’t look back. This will guarantee that the Father will be rewarding a hundredfold.
