The Broken Heart of the Bride
1 How she sits, The city once great with people! Like a widow she has become, One great among the nations! A princess among provinces has become a slave!
In a position of power to start the book from the prophet Jeremiah.
Widow define in secular and in biblical
Bible – Married woman whose husband has died and who remains unmarried.
Secular – a woman who has lost her spouse by death and has not remarried.
Tells you that no matter how you define it a widow is a widow an unmarried woman whose husband has been declared deceased
Unequally yoked men and women are a counterfeit bride because Yah is your first husband the moment you took Messiah into your life. You are a bride to Messiah, so if you are a widow you can return to being the bride you were called to be. Halleluyah.
9 יהוה guards the strangers, He lifts up the fatherless and widow, But the way of the wrong ones He turns upside down.
10יהוה reigns forever, O Tsiyon, Your Elohim to all generations. Praise Yah!
Scripture that shows Jerusalem as a woman.
21 How the steadfast city has become a whore! I have filled it with right-ruling; righteousness lodged in it, but now murderers.
22 Your silver has become dross, your wine is mixed with water.
23 Your rulers are stubborn, and companions of thieves. Everyone loves bribes, and runs after rewards. They do not defend the fatherless, nor does the cause of the widow reach them.
24 Therefore the Master declares, יהוה of hosts, the Mighty One of Yisra’ĕl, “Ah, I shall be eased of My adversaries, and I shall be avenged of My enemies.
25 “And I shall turn My hand against you, and shall refine your dross as with lye, and shall remove all your alloy.
26 “And I shall give back your judges as at the first, and your counsellors as at the beginning. After this you shall be called the city of righteousness, a steadfast city.”
Scripture that shows Jerusalem as great among the nations
5“Thus said the Master יהוה, ‘This is Yerushalayim which I have set in the midst of the nations, with the other lands all around her.
Scripture that shows Jerusalem becoming a slave
9“For we were slaves, but in our bondage our Elohim did not forsake us, and extended loving-commitment to us in the presence of the sovereigns of Persia, to revive us, to raise up the House of our Elohim, to restore its ruins, and to give us a wall in Yehuḏah and Yerushalayim.
Cause of slavery
10 As my hand has found the reigns of the idols, whose carved images excelled those of Yerushalayim and Shomeron,
11 as I have done to Shomeron and her idols, do I not do also to Yerushalayim and her idols?’
how to avoid slavery
1 Corinthians 10:14
14 Therefore, my beloved ones, flee from idolatry.
1 John 5:21
21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amĕn.
Slavery is a position that we find ourselves in far too often. Many times we can be enslaved and not be aware of it. Slaves to idols and ignorantly think we are doing, whatever idol it is, we are doing well to be exalted for whatever work we do under slavery.
3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask evilly, in order to spend it on your pleasures.
4 Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with Elohim? Whoever therefore intends to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of Elohim.
18 For many – of whom I have often told you, and now say to you even weeping – walk as enemies of the stake of Messiah.
19 Their end is destruction, their mighty one is their stomach, and their esteem is in their shame – they mind the earthly.
5 Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: whoring, uncleanness, passion, evil desire and greed of gain, which is idolatry.
6 Because of these the wrath of Elohim is coming upon the sons of disobedience,
7 in which you also once walked when you lived in them.
8 “But I shall leave a remnant, in that some of you shall escape the sword among the nations, when you are scattered throughout the lands.
9 “And those of you who escape shall remember Me among the nations where they have been taken captive, because I have been broken by their adulterous heart which has turned away from Me, and by their eyes which whored after their idols. And they shall loathe themselves for the evils which they have done in all their abominations.
He spent enough time explaining how not to become a spiritual widow my questions is, will you listen? Let’s go a bit deeper.
6 Because of these the wrath of Elohim is coming upon the sons of disobedience,
7 in which you also once walked when you lived in them.
8 But now, also put off all these: displeasure, wrath, evil, blasphemy, filthy talk from your mouth.
9 Do not lie to each other, since you have put off the old man with his practices,
10 and have put on the new one who is renewed in knowledge according to the likeness of Him who created him,
11 where there is not Greek and Yehuḏi, circumcised and uncircumcised, foreigner, Scythian, slave, free, but Messiah is all, and in all.
14 And not with you alone I am making this covenant and this oath,”
15 but with him who stands here with us today before יהוה our Elohim, as well as with him who is not here with us today.
16 “For you know how we dwelt in the land of Mitsrayim and how we passed through the nations which you passed through,
17 and you saw their abominations and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which were with them,
18 lest there should be among you a man or woman or clan or tribe, whose heart turns away today from יהוה our Elohim, to go and serve the mighty ones of these nations, lest there should be among you a root bearing bitterness or wormwood.
Will you listen?
Bitterness is a common word for people who don’t get their way, forget their way or is forced to change. Bitterness controls people and it can destroy relationships. Recently, a friendship was ruined due to unresolved bitterness, which is always a result of unforgiveness. This in turn feeds all the other negative emotions. Fitting statement going into the second verse of Lamentations 1.
2 She weeps bitterly at night, And her tears are upon her cheeks. Among all her lovers there is no comforter for her. All her friends have betrayed her, They have become her enemies.
Weep – a fit or period of weeping
Bitterly – 1. in an angry, hurt, or resentful way.
to an extreme, forceful, or particularly harsh degree.
No comforter due to what. Idolatry!
1 And it came to be in the sixth year, in the sixth month, on the fifth of the new moon, as I sat in my house with the elders of Yehuḏah sitting before me, that the hand of the Master יהוה fell upon me there.
2 And I looked and saw a likeness, like the appearance of fire. From His waist and downward the appearance was like fire, and from His waist and upward the appearance of brightness, like glowing metal.
3 And He stretched out the form of a hand, and took me by a lock of my hair. And the Spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heavens, and brought me in visions of Elohim to Yerushalayim, to the door of the north gate of the inner court, where the seat of the image of jealousy was, which causes jealousy.
4 And see, the esteem of the Elohim of Yisra’ĕl was there, like the vision that I saw in the plain.
5 And He said to me, “Son of man, please lift your eyes toward the north.” And I lifted my eyes northward, and north of the slaughter-place gate I saw this image of jealousy in the entrance.
6 And He said to me, “Son of man, do you see what they are doing, the great abominations which the house of Yisra’ĕl are doing here, driving Me away from My set-apart place? And you are to see still greater abominations.”
7 Then He brought me to the door of the court. And I looked and saw a hole in the wall.
8 And He said to me, “Son of man, please dig into the wall.” And when I dug into the wall I saw a door.
9 And He said to me, “Go in, and see the evil abominations which they are doing there.”
10 And I went in and looked and saw all kinds of creeping creatures, abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Yisra’ĕl, carved all around on the walls.
11 And facing them stood seventy men of the elders of the house of Yisra’ĕl, and in their midst stood Ya‛azanyahu son of Shaphan. Each one had a censer in his hand, and a thick cloud of incense went up.
12 And He said to me, “Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Yisra’ĕl are doing in the dark, each one in the room of his idols? For they say, ‘יהוה does not see us, יהוה has forsaken the land.’ ”
13 And He said to me, “You are to see still greater abominations which they are doing.”
14 And He brought me to the door of the north gate of the House of יהוה, and I saw women sitting there, weeping for Tammuz.
15 Then He said to me, “Have you seen this, O son of man? You are to see still greater abominations than these.”
16 And He brought me into the inner court of the House of יהוה. And there, at the door of the Hĕḵal of יהוה, between the porch and the slaughter-place, were about twenty-five men with their backs toward the Hĕḵal of יהוה and their faces toward the east, and they were bowing themselves eastward to the sun.
who is the comforter
2 Corinthians 1:3-4
3 Blessed be the Elohim and Father of our Master יהושע Messiah, the Father of compassion and Elohim of all comfort,
4 who is comforting us in all our pressure, enabling us to comfort those who are in every pressure, through the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by Elohim.
And she said to him, “How can you say, ‘I love you,’ when your heart is not with me? You have mocked me these three times, and you have not told me where your great strength lies.”
Even my close friend in whom I trusted, who ate my bread, has lifted his heel against me.
What we see with most people and throughout all of history when it comes to faith in the Most High, is a pattern. A pattern that cycles over and over again like clockwork. The rise to favor, the fall to condemnation, the judgement, the ransom, the payment, the cleansing and finally the rise back to being favored.
Broken Heart of the Bride
The Counterfeit Bride
This message is for the unequally yoked as well as the ones who are single and being sought after or thinking of doing the seeking after. Remember what the Word says and think before you act.
Before we get into the bells and whistles of this message, we need to start the message out with some context and understanding.
Counterfeit – made in exact imitation of something valuable or important with the intention to deceive or defraud.
Bride(pertaining to spirit) –
22 Wives, subject yourselves to your own husbands, as to the Master.
23 Because the husband is head of the wife, as also the Messiah is head of the assembly, and He is Saviour of the body.
24 But as the assembly is subject to Messiah, so also let the wives be to their own husbands in every respect.
25 Husbands, love your wives, as Messiah also did love the assembly and gave Himself for it,
26 in order to set it apart and cleanse it with the washing of water by the Word,
27 in order to present it to Himself a splendid assembly, not having spot or wrinkle or any of this sort, but that it might be set-apart and blameless.
28 In this way husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.
29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but feeds and cherishes it, as also the Master does the assembly.
30 Because we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones.
31 “For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.”
32 This secret is great, but I speak concerning Messiah and the assembly.
33 However, you too, everyone, let each one love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she fears her husband.
3 Yehuḏah has gone into exile, Because of affliction and because of harsh labour. She has dwelt among nations, She has found no rest. All her pursuers have overtaken her Between narrow places.
Why is Yehudah in exile?
Judah (a remnant of Israel) felt the punishment of their affliction because they breached their contract through their acts of idolatry also known as adultery.
22 “See, I am throwing her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great affliction, unless they repent of their works.
Adultery is being punishable by great affliction
What is this affliction and harsh labor?
Nebuchadnezzar is sitting outside the gates of Jerusalem, getting ready to take the city by the will of Elohim. This is to accomplish the judgement being carried out by the will of the Father by Nebuchadnezzar.
5 Declare in Yehuḏah and let it be heard in Yerushalayim, and say, “Blow a shophar in the land. Cry aloud and say, ‘Gather yourselves, and let us go into the walled city.’
11“And it came to be, when Neḇuḵaḏretst-sar sovereign of Baḇel came up into the land, that we said, ‘Come, let us go to Yerushalayim for fear of the army of the Kasdim and for fear of the army of the Arameans.’ So we dwell at Yerushalayim.”
Great affliction can be unsettling. Losing your city, your home, your comfort, etc…. Imagine.
Why can’t she find rest?
When you don’t have a home and it’s because you broke your contract and you’ve been kicked out. Divorce>
In the first part of the verse “Gone into exile because of the affliction” Build on this
Remember the Hebrews not going into the land.
Numbers 13:27-28, 31-33
27 And they reported to him, and said, “We went to the land where you sent us. And truly, it flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit.
28 “But the people who dwell in the land are strong, and the cities are walled, very great. And we saw the descendants of Anaq there too.
31But the men who had gone up with him said, “We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we.”
32And they gave the children of Yisra’ĕl an evil report of the land which they had spied out, saying, “The land through which we have gone as spies is a land eating up its inhabitants, and all the people whom we saw in it are men of great size.
33And we saw there the Nephilim, sons of Anaq, of the Nephilim. And we were like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and so we were in their eyes.
Numbers 14:2, 3, 26-32
2 And all the children of Yisra’ĕl grumbled against Mosheh and against Aharon, and all the congregation said to them, “If only we had died in the land of Mitsrayim! Or if only we had died in this wilderness!
Later on Moses and Aharon, Yah pleaded with all the people before them and they said this:
3And why is יהוה bringing us to this land to fall by the sword, that our wives and children should become a prey? Would it not be better for us to turn back to Mitsrayim?
4And they said to each other, “Let us appoint a leader, and let us turn back to Mitsrayim.”
Forget a land overrun with giants when you have a Creator that splits seas, causes 10 plagues, swallows up 3000 people, etc and run because you have no faith.
This eerily sounds like a failing marriage. A few giants get in the road, mistakes made, things regretfully said, actions uncharacteristic, etc. Times get hard run away because the faith that your relationship will survive beyond the hard times doesn’t exist.
Run the race with endurance, not with counterfeit commitment.
1 We too, then, having so great a cloud of witnesses all around us, let us lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race set before us,
26And יהוה spoke to Mosheh, and to Aharon, saying,
27“How long shall this evil congregation have this grumbling against Me? I have heard the grumblings which the children of Yisra’ĕl are grumbling against Me.
28Say to them, ‘As I live,’ declares יהוה, ‘as you have spoken in My hearing, so I do to you.”|
29The carcasses of you who have grumbled against Me are going to fall in this wilderness, all of you who were registered, according to your entire number, from twenty years old and above.
30None of you except Kalĕḇ son of Yephunneh, and Yehoshua son of Nun, shall enter the land which I swore I would make you dwell in.
31But your little ones, whom you said would become a prey, I shall bring in, and they shall know the land which you have rejected.
32But as for you, your carcasses are going to fall in this wilderness.
Israel stripped of their promise and passed to their descendants.
Jerusalem, stripped of her glory(her husband) and passed to the next king up.
Is she trapped by her enemies like a dog in a corner?
Nebuchadnezzar had Jerusalem surrounded so yes she was cornered like a dog.
An unequally yoked marriage is a counterfeit marriage. You’re not getting that in-depth feel for one another that you would otherwise get if you were equally yoked. Reason this is, is that unless you are equally yoked, your spiritual waves won’t be able to connect. This causes problems in the relationship because of that disconnect.
2 Corinthians 6:14-18
14 Do not become unevenly yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness and lawlessness? And what fellowship has light with darkness?
15 And what agreement has Messiah with Beliya‛al? Or what part does a believer have with an unbeliever?
16 And what union has the Dwelling Place of Elohim with idols? For you are a Dwelling Place of the living Elohim, as Elohim has said, “I shall dwell in them and walk among them, and I shall be their Elohim, and they shall be My people.”
17 Therefore, “Come out from among them and be separate, says יהוה, and do not touch what is unclean, and I shall receive you.
18 “And I shall be a Father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to Me, says יהוה the Almighty.”
1 Corinthians 15:33
33 Do not be led astray, “Evil company corrupts good habits.”
I’m not suggesting that anyone that is currently unequally yoked to end their relationships. I’m letting you know that there are green pastures on the other side. Make it the best you can and if you can’t make it and the marriage has to be dissolved, do it the right and scriptural way. Don’t let socialized, dramatized, behavior shape your Messiah-led behavior.
This is also for the single people. If you are single because of divorce or widowed, this is your opportunity to get to know your Messiah more. This can be applicable to uneven marriages. You can choose to be married full time to your Messiah and really get to know Him.
This is a time for those of you who are going to recluse into a spiritual haven with our Messiah and instead, search out a spouse. This is to remind you that where you look, you want to test the fruit of the person, stay on the straight path of Yah and choose your spouse wisely. You choose right, you can end up like me and have a happy but not perfect marriage. It took me four failed relationships of sin to learn what a good spouse looks like. Then in my 5th where the first year we both were in sin, I found my wife and almost lost her but what YHVH ordained to be, let no man put asunder. We stayed together because the Messiah called and I answered. Saved my marriage, saved my life.
Be weary over others who you choose to be intimate with. If you are hitched, stay strong, stay focused, don’t let the spouse try to take you off the path. If you are widowed, look up to the heavens and know the Bridegroom has your life in His hands and He loves each and every one of us. He will show you happiness, He will show you love….
